PCXpocket440 Laptop Sound Card Solution March 12, 2001Digigram introduced the PCXpocket440 laptop sound card solution. Systems contractors
serving multiple clients will find that a PCXpocket440 linked to Digigram Xtrack
suite of audio production tools will provide on-the-run relief to their audio
needs.
The PCXpocket440 has history on its side. In 1997, Digigram PCXpocket was the
first Type II PC Card for professional audio applications on a laptop. The new
PCXpocket440 multichannel laptop sound card is designed for specialized applications
written by our development partners to run on the card's on-board digital signal
processor. DSP functions include mixing, MPEG (layer I and II) and GSM encoding
and decoding, variable sampling frequency, and sophisticated audio processing.
The PCMCIA card has four mono (or two stereo) analog inputs and four mono (or
two stereo) analog outputs. In addition, an SPDIF input can be used in place of
the first stereo input pair and an SPDIF output operates in parallel with the
first stereo output pair. If more inputs and outputs are needed, two PCXpocket440s
can be synchronized in the same laptop.
PCXpocket440 has LTC (SMPTE) time-code input for synchronization and a programmable
clock. The PCXpocket 440, in combination with Digigram Xtrack suite of digital
audio production tools, provides a great four in/out portable studio, which can
be locked to an external video signal.
About Xtrack 4.0
A portable and powerful digital audio workstation is created when the PCXpocket440
is coupled with the latest version of Digigram Xtrack that has been upgraded to
allow users to import, export and edit MP3 files.
Digigram Xtrack 4.0 is able to merge a set of tracks, consisting of any combination
of PCM, Layer I, and Layer II, to generate a single MP3 file. Format, sampling
frequency and bit rate conversions are done by the export process. The software
also allows users to convert their MP3 files into a single PCM, MPEG Layer I or
MPEG Layer II file. A wide range of compression is offered, from 8 kbps at 22.05
kHz to 320 kbps at 48 kHz.
Digigram Xtrack 4.0 is intuitive, full-featured and flexible for broadcast
editing, video post-production, dubbing, CD authoring, and other applications.
Comprehensive, nondestructive editing and processing functions include cut,
copy, insert, replace, drag and drop, fill with pattern, adjust to marker, time-stretching,
pitch-shifting, and track merging. Video and audio autolocation functions allow
rapid marking and recall of edit points. For more information, visit their web site at www.digigram.com. |
