PRESS RELEASE

Emagic System Bridge Links TDM and Native Processing

March 7, 2001

The Emagic System Bridge TDM is a link between native, host-based sound creation and the world of specialized DSP hardware. It allows an user-friendly fusion of these different technologies by optimal use of the existing resources. With the development of the ESB TDM, a new level of host-based effect integration for the TDM user is attained because native outputs of Logic Audio can now be input in the TDM mixer by use of a send/return-system. The ESB TDM therefore allows the use of VST 2.0 sources in TDM-based systems, when used within Logic Audio Platinum Mac. This effectively bridges the host-based mixer with the TDM mixer, allowing users of ProTools hardware to combine both native and TDM processing.

Further to this, the ESB TDM allows the integration of up to 32 EXS24 units in the Aux channels of Logic Audio Platinum's TDM mixer. EXS24 outputs can be processed entirely within the Logic Audio Platinum MacOS TDM environment, using the ProTools DSP. MIDI performances are recorded on aux tracks with sample accurate playback timing. Further to this, native outputs of Logic Audio can now be input in the TDM mixer by use of a send / return-system. The ESB TDM therefore allows the use of native Logic Audio and VST 2.0 sources in TDM-based systems, when used within Logic Audio Platinum Mac. This effectively bridges the host- based mixer with the TDM mixer, allowing users of Pro Tools hardware to combine both native and TDM processing.
