MindPrint Unveils DTC at MusikMesse
March 15, 2001The forthcoming DTC from Mindprint is
a two-channel front-end offering Mic and Line preamplification, equalisation, dynamics
processing and an optional digital interface in a 3-rack-space 19" format.
The range of applications and the fundamental idea behind this unit are quite similar to those of MindPrint's EnVoice, which
has been a best-seller. The new DTC differs, however, from the EnVoice in that the DTC is a two-channel device, offers
more features, employs considerably more sophisticated technology and it sports a completely new aesthetic design.
INPUT SECTION
High-quality input section with microphone preamp, line input, high-impedance instrument input, and - if the optional AD/DA
interface is installed - a 24-bit/96-kHz digital input and output.
Special feature: Transformer- coupled mikrophone-inputs. The complex interplay of impedance, capacity, and induction of
the extrem dynamic Haufe transformers with broad bandwidth ensures optimal matching of the microphone signals, and
remarkable natural sound.
EQUALIZATION
Adjustable high cut and low cut, 4-band fully parametric EQ, each band switchable. Special feature: Parallel structure of the
EQ-circuitry. Due to this structure, the original signal goes through the circuitry passively - without an op amp that could
degrade the signal. The effects which arise from this approach have a very positive effect on the overall sound.
DYNAMICS PROCESSING
Compressor/Limiter functions are handled by a combination of opto-coupler and tube. The opto-coupler is located in the
signal path before the EQ and levels broader swings in dynamic levels in a very musical manner. A 12AX7 tube serves as
an additional gain stage after the EQ, assuming the limiting function with its natural saturation.
DIGITAL OPTION
24-bit/96-kHz AD/DA with both optical and coaxial SP-DIF and AES/EBU inputs and outputs
USER INTERFACE DESIGN
The controls for each processing stage are grouped into clearly divided areas. Control knobs within each group are arranged
into two basic lines: levels and parameters.
Release scheduled for September, 2001.
