Software Version 1.30 Ready for System 6000

Advertisement In accordance with the concept of continuously extending the possibilities of TC Electronic's Multi-channel Platform, System 6000, new software additions are now ready for users worldwide with the release of the version 1.30 software. Release 1.30 includes: Multiple ICONs controlling one (or more) M6000's Up to eight ICONs can now control the same (or several) Mainframes. This enables the users to share the Mainframe's processing-power in facilities with several control-rooms; or have several operators in e.g. a film-mixing location control the Mainframes simultaneously. The ICONs will update each other instantly, but at the same time it is possible to control different Engines individually from each ICON. When setting up several ICONs and Mainframes in a LAN (Local Area Network), a HUB or a Server has to be added. For customers who want to use several ICONs and /or Mainframes, TC Electronic now offers a four-port HUB. In bigger installations TC Support, of course, is available with help and advice.* PC Remote control A PC program with ICON look &feel has just been released. Ethernet networks (100 Base) controlling System 6000s may consist of PCs, ICONs or a mix of these components. SMPTE Automation SMPTE time-code automation is enabled. Cue-lists can be created enabling automated Program changes in Engine and Scene presets. By having the automation generated from the ICON, one common Cue-list can be shared across several Mainframes. New Algorithm: BackDrop Noise reduction for restoration and mastering applications. BackDrop incorporates an ear-model taking human perception into account to combat artifacts found in other equipment for this application. The BackDrop noise reduction system was designed to provide the maximum amount of noise reduction without audibly altering the underlying signal. Since noise removal systems can also remove part of the signal, BackDrop's fundamental philosophy is to remove the noise with as little processing as possible. That is, BackDrop monitors the incoming signal and continuously decides the perceptually optimal processing to apply. BackDrop lets you choose the algorithm model that best suits the noise you want to reduce. BackDrop's Basic model provides a simple set of controls that are perfect for removing common broadband noises such as tape hiss. The Multi-Band model expands your control by allowing the user to divide the noise reduction process into three independent frequency bands. This give you full control to shape the noise reduction across frequency in such a way that you can maximize the noise reduction without damaging the signal. Finally, the Multi-Type model separates the noise into three components (Buzz, Room, and Hiss) and lets the user choose how much of each noise component to reduce. Backdrop will have a license fee (ex. VAT) of DEM 5.280,- / £ 1.575,- / Euro 2.700,- Algorithm improvement: VSS-5.1 Reverb Based on feedback from current System 6000 users, several new parameters have been added to this 5.1 In / 5.1 Out Reverb algorithm. The multi-directional rendering model now reveals even more of its power: Controls allowing discrimination between angles of arrival are introduced as well as a balance control between early and higher order reflections. More adjustment has also been added to the late reverb response by the inclusion of multipliers and cross-over points for front and surround channels. Software release 1.30 offers two new Location Types in VSS-5.1 Reverb and VSS-5.1 Source: Theater, a very smooth sounding medium sized location with a pleasant live ambient feeling and Living Room, a damped location primarily for Film- & Post-production purposes, or music where a strong room character is called for.
