TerraTec Announces AudioSystem EWS96 M

Advertisement TerraTec brings its new AudioSystem EWS96 M on the market just in time for the music convention in Frankfurt. This is to be taken as the consequent follow-up to the successful EWS series, placing focus on high quality two channel recording and playback, and bringing a new meaning to the term "PC mastering". The EWS96 M from the sound card specialists makes this PCI system, with its mature design and special features, an ideal tool for professional use. Over two completely symetrical inputs and outputs audio files can be transfered in up to 24 bit and 96kHz resolution. The modern converter technology delivers values like 117dB (ADC) and 120dB (DAC) signal to noise reduction providing quiet – that means practically noise free! For optimal signal level configuration, the intputs and outputs can be freely switched between –10dBv and +4dBu and allows for an extra 16dB headroom on the slider. In addition to the analog stereo inputs and outputs there is a 24 bit/96kHz digital (coaxial) input as well as output for all standard formats. These work without any sample rate conversion and transfer signals absolute bit-true. In "Non-Audio" mode DTS or AC3 audio streams from a software DVD player can be sent over the digital output to an external Dolby Digital Receiver. The EWS96 M digital input can also be configured to receive a digital signal (TTL) from an internal CD-ROM drive. All of the modules from the well known EWS64 series can also be connected to the new PCI card, thus offering extra digital inputs and outputs. The microWAVE PC! becomes PCI compatible! Now new: The "media Xtension R" is a port module for the backside of the PC and extends the EWS96 M functions to include multimedia features like optical digital I/O‘s (24 bit S/PDIF), line I/O’s, MIDI ports and microphone input. For the experts: Cascading several EWS systems is also possible. As you like, using the EWS Connect adapter the number and arrangement of simultainiously useable ports can be changed, allowing for special configurations to fit all situations. Over the EWS Connect a sample exact synchronisation of all the cards combined is easily achievable. The EWS ClockWork from TerraTec as well as external digital equipment like Word or SuperClock can be used. The AudioSystem EWS96 M is directly compatible with all known audio applications under Windows 9x/ME/NT and 2000. Drivers for the above mentioned operating systems are included as well, along with support for Steinberg's ASIO 2.0 technology, GigaSampler (GSIF), Microsof's DirectSound and MME. And here are the special features cleary present, as all the drivers are capable of processing 24 bit audio files as 32 bit streams and can send the signal directly to the software being used. Utilizing this feature signifigantly reduces the processor load, unlike the standard "packed byte" technique where 24 bit data has to be "stacked" in order to be sent through the 32 bit bus.
