dbx Introduces In-Ear Monitor Processor

March 11, 2001

dbx recently introduced the In-Ear Monitor (IEM) processor for performers and engineers who utilize in-ear monitoring devices. The dbx IEM enhances the sonic quality of in-ear monitoring applications while providing the necessary audio level protection that is essential to artists and engineers.

The IEM is one of the first digital signal processors designed specifically for inear monitor applications. The unit's processing capabilities include 4-band stereo compression with gating, dbx PeakStop limiting, stereo image control and 5-band parametric EQ. The IEM also includes several custom reverb algorithms using the industry standard Lexicon technology.

"This is one of the first digital signal processors designed specifically for in-ear monitor applications," said Rob Urry, president of Harman Music Group. "The IEM combines dbx and Lexicon technologies to give artists and engineers incredible processing power."

The IEM features 48-bit resolution, and dbx proprietary Type IV A/D converters in a single rack-space unit. Parameters on the IEM earl be edited using faceplate controls or via the included software (PC). On-board IEM firmware is updateable via the Internet and the built-in RS-232 port.
