New EMI 6|2m USB Audio/MIDI Inteface from Emagic

March 14, 2002

The EMI 6|2 m is the ideal USB audio and MIDI interface for mobile recording with notebook computers. Lightweight and approximately the size of video cassette, the EMI 6|2 m can be used without a power adaptor, with current supplied directly via the USB port. It provides six analog recording and two analog playback channels and two cinch sockets, which can be used as either S/PDIF in and outputs, or as MIDI in and outputs. As the EMI 6|2 m is automatically recognized by the computer, installation of the unit is simple and painless.

Integrated USB Hub

In addition to acting as both a USB audio and MIDI interface, the EMI 6|2 m offers an integrated USB Hub: two additional USB ports are provided for the connection of further USB hardware devices.

Low Latency technology

Latency-free hardware monitoring guarantees the monitoring of audio input signals with no perceptible delay. Emagic's renowned low latency technology allows software instruments such as the ES2, EVP88 and EXS24, plus VST 2.0 compatible instruments to be played in realtime. The incorporated headphone amplifer provides quick and convenient mobile monitoring.

The coaxial S/PDIF connectors allow digital audio devices, such as external digital effects processors and DAT machines, to be connected directly without any conversion loss. Thanks to proven, reliable technology developed by Emagic, multichannel audio transfer via USB takes place without data reduction. Status LED's indicate bit quantization, digital/analog input processing, external/internal synchronization and sample rate. Inputs and outputs also feature LED's indicating signal presence.

The EMI 6|2 m will initially be shipped with drivers for Windows operating systems. Mac OS drivers will follow later.

Pricing and Availability

The EMI 6|2 m will be available in the 2nd quarter of 2002 with a recommended retail price in Germany of 375,- Euro.
