March 14, 2002

With a new update to version 5.1, Emagic continues to deliver in-demand technologies to its ever-expanding international professional user base.

Integration of Logic Control Hardware

Logic Platinum 5.1 can be fully integrated with Emagic's new Logic Control hardware system, which was developed in cooperation with Mackie Designs. It offers complete hands-on control over hundreds of MIDI and audio functions, including Logic 5's new 32 Bit track automation system.

Multiple Undo with history

Version 5.1 of Logic Platinum introduces an sophisticated and easy to use multiple undo/redo system. While there are no practical rectrictions to the number of undo/redo steps, the user can define the maximum amount to, for example, 100 steps, or any other number dictated by convenience.

The clarity of the undo/redo history window is what makes working with this new functionality so accessible. The user has access to a complete script of the song's evolutionary progress, allowing any step to be selected, and all steps up to that point to be reconstructed. The undo/redo history can be stored, and can be reactivated the next time the song is launched.

DSP Optimization Technology: DOT

With version 5, Logic Platinum takes full advantage of the G4 Velocity Engine on Mac OS, and the Pentium III, Pentium IV and AthlonXP processors on Windows. In general, DOT results in a doubling of the available CPU power, if optimised modules in Logic are used. A number of the Logic Platinum 5 plug-ins are specifically optimized for the processor types listed above; such plug-ins are indicated by the "DOT" logo on the plug-in surface. This allows a significant increase in the number of plug-in instances and voices which can be opened simultaneously.
