New Evolution Instrument Microphone
March 19, 2002
With the e 664, Sennheiser has rounded off its Evolution series of wired stage microphones: finally there is an Evolution model for overhead miking of drumkits and the high-resolution pick-up of acoustic instruments.
The e 664 is Sennheiser's answer to the ever-increasing number of customer requests for an overhead microphone that combines superlative sound with the excellent price/performance ratio of evolution microphones. After the e 865 vocal microphone, the evolution e 664 is the second condenser model in the series.
Low inherent self-noise and excellent directivity over the entire frequency range (40-20,000 Hz ± 2.5 dB) make this cardioid mic an ideal choice for cymbals, hi-hats and acoustic guitars. Very good rejection of both feedback and incident rear noise allow for precise recordings with high output. A switchable low-cut filter effectively reduces handling, wind and pop noise.
