The Last of the SidStations: Final 100 Edition
March 5, 2003
The Elektron SidStation is based on the unique MOS6581 SID sound chip. The SID-chip was originally found in the Commodore 64 line of home computers. The SidStation was first released in 1999, and has offered an alternative for musicians.
Now, four years after the introduction of the SidStation, Elektron has announced that it's stock of factory new SID chips is coming to an end. This means that the production and sales of the SidStation will end in the near future.
However, before suming up the era of the SidStation, Elektron announced the Final 100 Edition. The final 100 units are fitted with a laser etched number on the front, counting from 100 down to 1. These will be the last SidStation units ever produced, and will be sold in the order of their numbering, starting from 100 going down to the final number 1.
The SidStation Final 100 Edition is sold only through direct online sales at the price of EUR 900 (incl. sales tax) inside the EU, and USD 760 in the rest of the world.
