In order to serve those musicians whose monitoring environments require reproducing high volume levels (or who just like to crank their monitors to "11"), Event has introduced the Tuned Reference 8XL. The 8XL model uses the same driver components as in the original TR8 system, but features a powerful new amplifier that delivers a full 150 watts (100 woofer / 50 tweeter) to each speaker. The XL also incorporates a high-performance torroid power transformer, which gives the new model superior electrical and mechanical noise characteristics. The end result is a high-powered reference monitor. The name Tuned Reference comes from the monitors being precision tuned to provide flat frequency response and uncolored sound, thereby giving the user a true sonic reference for mixing. The design ensures that mixes created on a Tuned Reference monitor will translate accurately to other playback systems. When asked about the significance of the "XL" designation, Event President Ted Keffalo grinned, "Why, it's for Xtra Loud, of course!" The Tuned Reference 8XL Biamplified Monitors carry a manufacturer's suggested list price of $699 per pair. Tuned Reference Biamplified Direct Field Monitors are Designed and Manufactured in the U.S.A. For more information, visit their web site at http://www.event1.com/.
