PRESS RELEASE

Plasma Powered Loudspeakers from EV

Plasma P1
Plasma P2
April 4, 2004

Electro-Voice introduced the new Plasma powered loudspeaker system. The 15-inch two-way powered 80-degree x 55-degree Plasma P1 and single 18-inch powered subwoofer represent the most current technology in active loudspeaker systems from EV, designed for professional audio applications, including theater, A/V, and professional sound reinforcement.

Plasma P1

The Electro-Voice Plasma P1 integrates premium EV transducers with high power class H amplification and signal processing to provide a combination of sonic detail, SPL, and ease of use. An EVX155 and the ND6 compression driver with a 3-inch diaphragm and 1.4" exit provides extended HF response with very low distortion. A class H two-channel amplifier requires no fans for quiet operation, low maintenance, and long-term reliability. Coupled with signal processing for linear acoustic response, and unobtrusive protection it delivers the power required for high-level reinforcement. Dynamic linearity is another benefit of amplifiers designed for system integration with large format transducer motors.

L-track is embedded into the Plasma P1 to provide convenient multi-axis suspension and attachment points for the optional "PLASMA Strong-Arm" suspension. The very compact multi-angle enclosure can be used in monitor position (in left and right configurations), or arrayed.

The Plasma P1 is acoustically designed for uniform coverage in both horizontal and vertical planes adding to its versatility.

Plasma P2

The Electro-Voice Plasma P2 is a new generation of high power compact subwoofers. Designed for EV's Plasma P1 loudspeakers, it's a system extension.

A class H two-channel amplifier requires no fans for quiet operation, low maintenance, and long-term reliability. Coupled with signal processing for linear acoustic response and unobtrusive protection, it delivers the power required for high-level reinforcement. Dynamic linearity is another benefit of amplifiers designed for system integration with large format transducer motors.

The patented LPN (Low-Pass-Notch) filter compensates for transient distortion of dynamic signals and allows the Plasma P2 to achieve a higher acoustic output than expected from a compact cabinet.
