OASYS system version 1.1 further raises the potential of the OASYS, bringing numerous enhancements such as the new STR-1 Plucked String EXi (Expansion Instrument), support for 2 Gbytes of memory, and a new type of AMS mixer.

The new STR-1 Plucked String expansion instrument
STR-1 Plucked String is a "plucked/struck string" physical model sound generator based on Korg's many years of experience in physical modeling technology. This synthesis tool can be used to create a broad range of sounds ranging from acoustic guitar, electric guitar, harpsichord, harp, and bell sounds, to ethnic sounds and even sounds not existing in the real world, all of which expressively change their tone under your fingertips in a way that would be difficult for PCM sample-based sound generators to imitate. The broad range of high-quality sounds and sound-creating potential you expect from the OASYS is suddenly far broader than before!

Support for 2 Gbytes of memory
This software update allows memory to be expanded up to 2 Gbytes. This gives you an even broader sampling space, and also lets you load both the EXs-1 and EXs-2 expansion PCM libraries simultaneously.

EXi audio input support
Audio input has been added as an EXi sound parameter on the OASYS. This allows an external audio source or previously-recorded audio material to be processed by an EXi, and you can even apply feedback to the sound of the EXi itself, giving you an even broader range of possibilities. Support for this parameter is implemented starting with STR-1 Plucked String.

New "Gate" type added to the AMS mixer
A new "Gate" type has been added to the AMS mixer, supplementing the OASYS' already vast offering of AMS (Alternate Modulation Source) choices. "Gate" operates similarly to the "side chain" used in audio effects such as compressors, but provides even more flexibility since you can obtain different effects when the gate opens and when it closes. For example you can use this to apply pitch bend to specific pitches and not to other pitches, or cause the STR-1 to produce a harmonics effect only when a specific velocity is exceeded, or use the joystick or other controller to switch between two LFOs in realtime. This gives you an immense amount of freedom for creative expression.

Half-damper switch function
OASYS software version 1.1 gives each program a parameter that lets you enable or disable control change 64 (CC#64), which is produced by conventional pedals or pedals that support half-damper operation. This is useful when you other sounds don't need the half-damper operation that is so important when playing piano sounds.

Footswitch control of INC/DEC
This software update allows a footswitch to control INC/DEC. You can use a footswitch to change between combinations and programs, giving you additional convenience for live performance or similar situations.

  • OASYS Open Architecture Synthesis Studio unifies cutting-edge synthesis, sampling, sequencing, audio recording and sound-generation KARMA functionality under an intuitive and feature - rich interface.
  • True OA (Open Architecture) synthesis delivers High-Definition PCM tone generation, plus modeling - including Virtual Analog and Tone Wheel applications.
  • Over 1 GB of sample data is provided, including stereo sample sets along with four-layer velocity-switching and crossfading. In addition, OASYS provides advanced versions of the Wave Sequencing and Vector Synthesis introduced in KORG's legendary WAVESTATION.
  • The KARMA functionality has been enhanced with multiple layers of control, predictable and uniform GE parameter assignments, and many new developments.
  • Combinations now allow 16 Programs to be split, layered, velocity switched and channelized across the keyboard, as multitimbral, master keyboard or MIDI sequencing templates.
  • OASYS is a completely integrated music production environment, providing both a 16-track MIDI sequencer and a 16-track hard disk recorder.
  • The Open Sampling System allows sampling and resampling in any mode, including In-Track sampling directly into the sequencer.
  • A rich array of controllers - 9 sliders, 8 knobs, 16 switches, 8 velocity-sensing pads, vector stick, joystick, ribbon controller, pedal jacks, and a huge 10.4" color TouchView display - provides expressive performance and fast, intuitive operation.
  • OASYS is loaded with a variety of 24-bit analog and digital inputs and outputs; an eight-channel ADAT output option is available.
  • Choose either the 76-key or 88-key model to suit your playing style or needs. The 88-key model features the RH2 (Real Weighted Hammer Action2) keyboard for superb playing feel.
  • Eight velocity-sensing pads are not only a great way to enter drum data, but also add expression via KARMA and other functions.
  • Four USB 2.0 "Type A" connectors make it easy to connect mass storage devices such as external hard disk drives, etc. The built-in CD Burner and 40GB hard drive lets you safety store large quantities of audio and other data.
