BIAS Announces Support For Intel-Based Macs
March 31, 2006
Advertisement BIAS Inc. today announced Universal versions of its Peak Pro, Peak Pro XT, Peak LE, Master Perfection Suite, SoundSoap and SoundSoap Pro applications for both Power PC and Intel-based Macs. "Audio professionals depend on BIAS products every single day so we've been hard at work developing Universal versions of our products," said Christine Berkley, vice president and chief MARCOM Officer at BIAS, Inc. "Apple's Xcode development tools made porting to Intel easy, the new Intel-based Macs are a huge leap forward and BIAS customers will love the performance benefits of running our software on these amazing new machines." "The power of Xcode has given Apple developers the opportunity to quickly and easily deliver native Universal applications for our blazing fast hardware," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "We're thrilled BIAS has taken full advantage of the innovation and elegance of the new Intel-based Macs and is set to deliver Universal versions of its audio products." A leading Mac audio developer for the past 10 years, BIAS has consistently embraced cutting-edge Apple technology, from its early adoption of Mac OS X to the rapid development of its support for the incredibly powerful Intel-based Macs. BIAS' Power PC optimized DSP processes are currently among the fastest, and highest-quality, in the industry. The BIAS Intel Core Duo compatible applications will demonstrate significant performance increases on some of the most computationally-intensive audio processes. For example, testing Sample Rate Conversion in Peak Pro 5 showed a nearly 130% performance increase running on an Intel-based MacBook Pro versus a 1.67 GHz PowerBook G4. When using Peak Pro 5's acclaimed RMS Normalization DSP, a 66% performance increase was realized. In addition, the process of bouncing or rendering effects was also substantially faster using the Intel-based MacBook Pro - rendering two instances of Apple's Matrix Reverb Audio Units plug-in run in parallel within Peak Pro 5's powerful Vbox effects routing environment was nearly twice as fast on the Intel-based MacBook Pro than the 1.67 GHz PowerBook G4. Availability and Pricing BIAS will be demonstrating its Universal applications on the newly available Intel-based iMac computer in its Frankfurt Musikmesse booth located in Hall 5.1 at Booth 63.
