REM Debuts New PCI-Express Audio Solutions

March 28, 2007

RME/Synthax Audio AG announce to further expand their "e"-line of Hammerfall recording solutions for the PCI-Express bus found in current Apple OS and Windows based desktop computers. After the presentation of the HDSPe PCI-Card on NAMM; RME shows the new HDSPe MADI card and debuts the next PCI-Express solution: HDSPe 9632.

The HDSPe 9632 is a newly engineered PCI-Express version of its standard-PCI successor. Its new PCI-Express core ensures full compatibility and maximum performance with the latest high-speed serial bus technology found in all newer computers. RME's FPGA core ensures full update capability via RME's Secure Flash technology, for further hardware and driver updates.

The card comes with the finest 192 kHz reference AD/DA-convertors known from the ADI QS8, a 96 kHz-capable ADAT I/O (SMUX), SPDIF I/O and MIDI I/O and a separate headphone output which owns its own DA converters and can be adjusted independently from the setting of the line outputs, catering for comfortable monitoring not only in recording situations. The HDSP 9632 is delivered with unbalanced RCA/phono breakout cables as standard. Optional breakout cables are available for balanced XLR I/Os and for AES/EBU. This option offers a real 192 kHz AES/EBU input/output mastering facility. The HDSP 9632 supports RME's TCO (Time Code Option) module and features all famous RME techniques: TotalMix™, SyncCheck® and SteadyClock™.

The new HDSPe PCI-Card provides RME's own high-speed serial audio data bus, as used in the Multiface, Multiface II, Digiface and RPM DJ Interfaces. These systems are owned and used by ten thousands of audio professionals around the planet. If users are looking for a no-compromise high-speed audio solution combined with ultimate compatibility, these devices are still state of the art. With the HDSPe PCI Card the further use of the existing range of RME's I/O boxes in next generation computers and in Windows VISTA environments is secured. As a special addition, the new HDSP PCIe series is prepared to support the use of the TCO, RME's Time Code Option, with Multiface/II and Digiface.

Shipping in May: The HDSPe MADI card rounds up RME's Premium Line MADI products as it represents the interfacing flagship to the MADI world. The HDSPe MADI card offers a powerful 128 I/O-channel computer connection. It supports 56- and 64-channel modes as well as Single and Double Wire formats. All 64 inputs and 64 playback channels can be routed and mixed independently to 64 physical outputs. The HDSPe MADI turns every "state of the art" computer into a powerful DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). The HDSPe MADI offers the most powerful router/mixer implemented on a single PCI-Express card ever. The card's analogue Monitoring/ Headphone output features the low latency DA convertors known from the ADI-8 QS.

Compared to the existing standard PCI MADI card, the new PCI-Express version offers several advantages, like support for higher sample rates up to 192 kHz, TCO support and even lower latency which makes the card a perfect solution for live recording and even live mixing applications.

All cards come with drivers for Windows XP (multi-client operation of MME, GSIF and ASIO 2.0) and brandnew drivers for Windows Vista and Vista 64. Apple users are perfectly served with Power PC and MAC Universal (Intel) drivers providing Core Audio and Core MIDI support.

The HDSPe PCI-Card is available worldwide end of March 2007.
The HDSPe 9632 and the HDSPe MADI Card will be available in May 2007.
The pricing will be slightly higher compared to the standard PCI card products.
