Wave Mechanics "PurePitch", world's first and only real-time formant-preserving pitch shifter for Pro Tools® now shipping September 26, 1997
Wave Mechanics, founded in 1992 by Ken Bogdanowicz (former head DSP engineer for Eventide, Inc.) is now shipping version 1.0 of "PurePitch", the world's first real-time, formant-corrected pitch shift program for Digidesign's Pro Tools platform.
Using state-of-the-art DSP techniques, PurePitch preserves the spectral character of the original source material, even when shifting the pitch by large amounts. This process allows for the most natural sounding vocal pitch shifting ever accomplished, eliminating the infamous "chipmunk" effect common to other pitch shift devices.
PurePitch fully supports the automation features of Pro Tools 4.0. PurePitch's natural sounding pitch-shifter can be used to compose realistic harmony tracks by automating pitch shift intervals. For pitch-correction, automation can be used to apply small amounts of pitch-shifting to correct isolated intonation problems where needed. By using automation with the unique formant modification features of PurePitch, the character of vocal tracks may be smoothly 'morphed'.
A full working demo version of PurePitch is available for downloading from the Wave Mechanics website; www.wavemechanics.com. PurePitch is currently available for the Pro Tools TDM platform, and will be available for the TC Electronics M5000 effects processor later this year.
Mr. Bogdanowicz has been specializing in audio-based DSP programming since the early 1980's. His contributions at Eventide include co-developing both the H3000 and DSP 4000 series of Ultra-Harmonizer brand effects processors. He later developed Crescent Engineering's Mod Factory, a unique set of DSP modules that could be patched together to create dynamic effects algorithms for the H3000 Ultra-Harmonizer. These algorithms were so well received that they became the basis for the successful "D" (Dynan-tic) series Ultra-Harmonizer line.
Wave Mechanics' PurePitch carries a US Suggested Retail Price of $595 and is distributed world-wide by Wave Distribution of West Milford, New Jersey. For more information, visit their web site at www.wavemechanics.com. |
