Metric Halo Supports Digidesign's RTAS Plug-In Standard

October 4, 1999

Metric Halo Laboratories, Inc. demonstrated Real Time Audiosuite (RTAS) versions of its line of Pro Tools® plug-ins at the Digidesign Development Partners stand and the Digidesign Pro Tools LE stand at the 107th AES Exhibition. RTAS plug-ins allow Pro Tools LE users to harness the host-processing power of their computers to do audio signal processing within Pro Tools.

Building upon is proven line of DSP based audio processing and metering tools Metric Halo Labs has used its signal processing and coding talents to create native processing algorithms that provide the comparable quality and efficiency to their TDM/DSP based counterparts.

The new plug-ins are integrated into Metric Halo's existing software packages and all new customers will automatically receive all supported plug-in standards with their purchase (e.g. TDM/AS/RTAS/Standalone).

All RTAS versions of Metric Halo signal processing software use 64-bit floating point calculations internally and provide the highest quality signal processing available.

The following products have been enhanced to support RTAS:

ChannelStrip|SP - This product is a low cost version of ChannelStrip targeted at project users of Pro Tools. It provides the same high quality algorithms as ChannelStrip with a reduced set of controls and processing blocks. It provides phase invert, gate, compressor, and a 48-bit 4 band fully parametric EQ in a complete, extremely CPU efficient signal processing package. The list price for ChannelStrip|SP is US$499.

ChannelStrip - This product is the channel strip processing section of a full-blown, large-format digital mixing console in a completely automatable, highly efficient signal processing plug-in. ChannelStrip provides input gain, channel delay, phase invert, full gate with a filtered sidechain, full compressor with a filtered sidechain, fully parametric 6-band 48-bit EQ with ±24dB of gain per band, output gain and advanced metering. All this functionality is provided in a signal processing package that is up to 4 times more CPU efficient than the competition while still providing world-class sound quality. The list price for ChannelStrip is US$999.

SpectraFoo - SpectraFoo is the final word in metering. Available in two product levels (SpectraFoo - US$500; and SpectraFoo Complete US$1000), SpectraFoo provides laboratory precision audio metering tools in a package that is so fast and so easy to use that you can literally see the music. In use all over the world in applications ranging from studio production to concert sound system tuning to forensic audio, SpectraFoo is the seceret weapon of top professionals in the field. SpectraFoo provides the functionality of systems costing 80 times as much (that's right - eighty times) allowing even the most modest project studios to profit from the information it provides. From tuning the control room to equalizing tracks to guiding mic placement and mastering the final project, SpectraFoo makes every piece of gear in the studio more valuable and every minute the engineer spends more effective and more efficient. It costs more to not own SpectraFoo than it does to buy it.

The RTAS implementations of these products are available immediately.
