Yamaha MU5 General MIDI Tone Generator

January 1, 1995The MU5 has a built-in host computer interface and MIDI terminals eliminating the need for a separate MIDI interface. The MU5 can also act as a stand-alone MIDI interface.

The MU5 is battery powered. It provides full General MIDI level 1 compatibility with 128 General MIDI voices and eight drum kits. It also boasts 28-voice polyphony and it is 16-part multitimbral.

The MU5 comes with built-in two-octave (ten-octave range) keyboard. It can also be used to play notes on the MU5 or on a connected external tone generator, to enter notes into sequencer or computer, or to send program changes.

It features an LCD display and has controls for selecting any of the 16 Parts, and Muting or Soloing parts. The LCD display also allows monitoring of those Parts with a bar graph display. A set of editing functions give freedom to customize operation to suit specific applications.
