E-mu Releases EMU8710 Audio PCMCIA Card
July 17, 1997E-mu Systems(R), Inc. announced today the release of the EMU8710 Audio PCMCIA Card for laptop digital audio production and delivery. The EMU8710 is a compact PC-Card that provides the ability to produce CD quality digital audio and wavetable music on a standard Windows 95 Pentium based computer.
The EMU8710 is for presenters, audio producers, and musicians who need a mobile solution for high-quality audio and MIDI production. The EMU8710 works with Windows 95 compatible software that supports the playback and recording of digital audio and MIDI music files. Presentation programs such as PowerPoint, Action and Astound are enhanced with Hollywood quality audio by the use of the EMU8710. Audio and MIDI production software such as Soundforge, Cakewalk, MasterTracks Pro and Creative Labs Vienna v2.0 also are supported by the card.

The EMU8710 PC Card features professional quality, 16 bit/44khz Stereo audio capabilities and a 32 voice, 2meg General MIDI wavetable synthesizer. Multiple reverb and chorus effects are also included, accessed via the built-in Control Panel software. In addition, the EMU8710 can be loaded with up to 512kB (RAM) of new sounds utilizing SoundFont(R) Technology, compatible with the popular Sound Blaster(R) AWE64(TM) from E-mu's parent company, Creative Technologies.
The EMU8710 comes standard with Control Panel Software, Windows 95 Drivers, several SoundFont Banks, example files and a stereo audio playback cable. The optional MABOX (Media Access Breakout Box) includes connectors for Audio In (Line in), 2 Audio Outs (Line Out and S/PDIF Digital out) and MIDI IN/OUT.
The Business Development group, formed in 1991, is responsible for the sales of E-mu Systems technology and products into new markets. The Business Development Group was responsible for the sales of E-mu sound chips to Creative Labs, leading to the acquisition of E-mu by Creative Technologies in 1994. In addition, the Business Development Group is responsible for the promotion and development of the SoundFont technology and CDROM SoundFont Banks.
