Antares' Auto-Tune Available as DirectX Plug-In December 14, 1998Antares Audio Technologies has released Auto-Tune
DirectX, a PC version of their previously Macintosh-only real-time pitch correction
plug-in that is designed to work with any PC audio application that supports the
DirectX plug-in format.
Currently available on the Macintosh in TDM, VST and Stand-Alone versions,
Auto-Tune provides the ability to correct the pitch of a voice or solo instrument,
without distortion or artifacts, while preserving all of the expressive nuance
of the original performance. Hailed by the audio press as "amazing" and a "Holy
Grail of recording," Auto-Tune has become one of the world's best-selling audio
plug-ins.
Like the Mac versions, Auto-Tune DirectX offers two modes of operation:
Automatic Mode uses advanced DPS algorithms to detect the incoming pitch of
a voice or solo instrument in real-time and correct it, if necessary, to a desired
pitch. The ability to specify the scale (or individual notes of a scale) to correct
to, as well as the ability to adjust the rate of correction, ensures effective
pitch correction for virtually any style of performance.
For meticulous tweaking, Auto-Tune's Graphical Mode displays a graphic representation
of a phrase's pitch contour, along with a selection of graphics tools that let
you modify the pitch in almost any imaginable way.
"Since the introduction of the various Macintosh versions of Auto-Tune, we've
received an overwhelming number of requests for a DirectX version," said Marco
Alpert, Antares Vice President of Marketing. "We clearly recognize the growing
importance of Windows as a platform for serious music production. Auto-Tune has
become an indispensable tool for thousands of audio professionals working on the
Mac and we're very pleased to be able offer its capabilities to those working
on the PC."
Auto-Tune DirectX is available now from Antares software dealers at an MSRP
of $299.00. Visit Antares on the web at www.antarestech.com.
