Ampeg has introduced the new AMG1 and AMB1 electric guitars and basses. Utilizing
many of the design characteristics of the Ampeg Dan Armstrong guitar, the AMG1
and AMB1 are crafted from traditional tone woods for players seeking classic sound
and cosmetics combined with modern form and function.
The Ampeg AMG1 guitar features a uniquely contoured, lightweight mahogany body
with a triple-A grade quilted maple top. Utilizing the innovative neck joint system
derived from the Ampeg Dan Armstrong
guitar, the AMG1 features full access to all 22 frets, clear of the body,
for effortless upper register excursions. With two Seymour Duncan SP90-1 soapbar
pickups and a basic Volume/Tone/3-Way control circuit, a tremendous range of tones
can be easily accessed.
A nickel-plated Wilkinson "wrap-a-round" bridge is used to generate
sustain and allow adjustable intonation. The figured maple top of the AMG1 is
highlighted with transparent finish options of Black Cherry, Amber Burst, Black,
and Purple Burst. The retail price is $1099.00.
For the bass player, the Ampeg AMB1 bass offers playability with its neck
joint allowing 24 frets clear of the body, and the tonal range of the Seymour
Duncan SMB-4D Basslines pickup. The control circuit of the AMB1 utilizes a single
Master Volume and Master Tone, with a mini switch for series/parallel pickup coil
configuration.
With a design descended from the legendary Ampeg
Dan Armstrong bass, the new AMB1 features an extremely lightweight basswood
body finished in Blue Pearl, Black Pearl, and Purple Metallic. Quilted maple tops
are also available in Black Cherry, Amber Burst and Purple Burst. A "high
mass", nickel plated, bridge allows for precise intonation and offers the
player the ability to mount the strings through the rear of the bridge or through
the body, for increased sustain and string tension. The AMB1 in solid colors retails
at $899.00, and at $949.00 with a quilted maple top.
The AMG1 and AMB1 will be available in February, 2000.
