Allen & Heath Launches GR8A Eight-Channel
Amplifier

Allen & Heath is expanding its Contractor series of dedicated installation
products at this years NSCA in Nashville with the launch of the GR8A, the
first eight-channel amplifier on the market.
As well as being suited to a wide range of zoning, paging, surround and background
music applications, the GR8A is intended as the perfect companion to Allen &
Heaths DR Series of digital installation mixers and GR Series zone mixers.
The amplifiers eight independent channels are housed in just 2U of rack
space and deliver 60W into 4 ohms. Channels can also be bridged in pairs as required,
giving 120W into 8 ohms. Inputs are on balanced XLRs with +4dBu sensitivity for
maximum power.
Among GR8As standout features is a unique monitoring system that allows
direct speaker line monitoring of each amplifier output from a front panel headphone
socket or rear panel monitor socket, with level matching to the correct headphone
sensitivity.
The amplifier is a DMOS design with low radiation toroidal transformer and
three-speed heat management system. Front panel controls for each channel can
be removed for preset operation or plugged to prevent tampering.
