Rhizomatic Software Releases Absynth

October 16, 2000Rhizomatic Software announces the release of Absynth,
a midi-controlled software synthesizer for Power Macintosh computers.
Absynth's unique design makes it easy for synthesists to create
elaborate patches with rich musical possibilities. Absynth can
produce sounds ranging from classic synth to acoustic instruments to
sounds unlike any other synthesizer.
Features include:
- 68-breakpoint envelope generators with loop and retrigger modes for
creating cyclic patterns.

Waveform editor with many drawing and transform functions,
including direct editing of the harmonic spectrum.

User-created waveforms can be used by oscillators, LFOs and as
distortion functions.
- Up to six oscillators per voice with FM and Ring Modulation modes
and user-editable waveform.
- Up to four filter modules per voice with a choice of 8 filter types.

Three Ring/Amplitude Modulation modules per voice.

Waveshaper distortion module, with user-editable waveform.

Delay effects processor with up to six parallel delays. Delay time
can be smoothly modulated from 1 sample to full delay length (up to
10 seconds depending on delay mode).
- 3 LFOs with user-editable waveforms and sample-and-hold.

Smooth, expressive midi continuous control processing.

64 voice polyphony.
- A convenient audio output recorder with overdub lets you save
Absynth's audio output in AIFF format.
Currently, Absynth uses Apple's Sound Manager for audio output and
OMS for MIDI. Support for other audio and MIDI protocols is under
development.
