August 28, 2000Amek's Media 51 automated multiformat
mixing console will be making its AES debut at the 109th Convention in Los
Angeles, CA, September 22-25, 2000 (Los Angeles Convention Center, Booth #
411). Media 51 is the first mid-priced analog console to be introduced by
Amek for over five years and is the first entry-level mixer to feature the
audio designs of Mr. Rupert Neve, the legendary audio equipment designer.
In addition to being an in-line multitrack console that is equally at home in music recording,
broadcast, video and film post production environments, the Media 51 also has mono
input modules that incorporate a brand new microphone preamplifier and EQ
section by Rupert Neve. The four band EQ may be split between
the channel and mix paths, while associated high- and low-pass swept
filters may alternatively be switched into the dynamics sidechain.
Bussing, panning and signal path switching accommodates popular surround
sound formats from four to eight channels wide. These include Dolby
Surround/Pro Logic (LCRS), Dolby Digital, DTS (5.1), Dolby Surround EX,
DTS-ES (6.1), SDDS and IMAX/Iwerks (8-channel), in addition to stereo and
mono. The center section offers comprehensive surround monitoring
facilities, including multiple solo, cut and metering modes, easy insertion
of encode and decode processors, extensive downmixing and stem monitoring
capabilities, master Playback/Direct (PEC/Direct) switching, and
comprehensive speaker control. Single or dual joystick options are available.
Media 51 is equipped as standard with Amek's Supertrue v.3 fader, switch,
and event automation, with synchronization through SMPTE and MIDI, Virtual
Dynamics, and Recall of all mono and stereo input channel parameters. A Cue
List function allows the triggering of internal and external events against
timecode with quarter-frame accuracy. Amek's Supertrue now has the largest
installed user base of any console automation system in the world.
Media 51 has evolved from the exceptionally successful BIG console, which
boasts over 700 installations worldwide. Like that console, Media 51 is
available with 28 or 44 inputs. Prices start at $49,995. For more information, visit their web site at www.amek.com. |
