With the SB 404 Step Bass, CreamWare presents a spectacular new instrument for the Pulsar/SCOPE DSP platform. The SB 404 offers unique and lively sounds and extraordinary features. Actually, the SB 404 comprises two devices: a virtual analog synthesizer and a step sequencer, combined into a tightly-integrated unit which is far more than the sum of its parts.

The synthesizer features alone are impressive. Two new morphing oscillators and a noise generator produce punchy monophonic bass and synth sounds. The filter section boasts a 24dB lowpass in connection with a newly designed comb filter, both with resonance. Two independent envelopes for filter and amp and multiple options for filter modulation complete the picture. In addition to this, the SB 404 features an integrated multi effects section. Distortion, equalizer, chorus and stereo-delay are available. Delay times can be comfortably synced to an external MIDI clock.

The most impressive thing about the SB 404 is its integrated realtime step-sequencer: 32 patterns which can be selected live from the MIDI keyboard - ideal for live performance. Each pattern contains 16 steps, each of which spans four "tracks". Track 1 determines whether or not a note is played on any given step. Track 2 controls step-by-step pitch modulation and allows complex pitch sequencing. Filter frequencies are modulated via track 3. And track 4 can be used to control pan position, volume or the decay times of the two envelopes. Slide and shuffle functions are also included in the SB 404. And naturally you can sync the step-sequencer to an external MIDI clock signal.

The SB 404 is now available exclusively in CreamWare's online shop. This makes it possible to offer this highly professional instrument at a price point of only 129 EUR (about 129 US$).
