August 3, 2000A carved solid cedar body in conjunction with a proprietary biasing dual pickup system emphasizes the natural attack, dynamic response, and harmonic complexity that was before obtained only through an "acoustic" instrument. The electroCoustic offers sweet tone, high gain levels, plus the longevity and reliability of a passive pickup system. In addition, the guitar weighs less than a small bodied acoustic.
A western red cedar body is carved both front and back to enhance resonance and harmonic complexity. The upgraded model uses quartersawn and bookmatched cedar, chosen for color.
The pickup system utilizes a neck mounted jazz style humbucker in conjunction with a piezo imbedded in a maple bridge. The proprietary "biasing" system keeps both pickups in the circuit at all times, while allowing for a bias towards either the "jazz" spectrum or the "acoustic" side. By using the capacitance of the piezo transducer to control the "electric" tone of the magnetic pickup, and the inductance of the magnetic coil to control the brittle high end of the piezo, the necessity of a preamp is eliminated.
The neck is North American hard maple with a rosewood board, and ebony with a bone nut on the upgrade.
A satin finish , with a choice of transparent natural wood colors is available on the basic guitar, while sunburst and shading effects under a gloss topcoat are available on the upgrades.
Included in the package are Gotoh tuners or Schaller minis for the upgrade, and a heavy-duty gig bag.
Pricing starts at $599. For more information, visit their web site at www.electrocoustic.com. |
