New Cymbals in Paiste's Traditionals Series

December 22, 2001Paiste has announced the expansion of its "Traditionals" series cymbals with the addition of a new model, the 22" Extra Light Ride. Also, the Extra Thin and the Thin Crash models are now available in a 20" size. Paiste has introduced these new models in response to feedback from jazz drummers who asked for bigger, thinner, and consequently darker cymbals. Such cymbals were common in jazz during the 1950's and 1960's, where they were played using light sticks with small tips. The resulting sound feeling is still required in today's jazz playing. The large crashes, when used with such sticks, are also useable as crash-rides or for light ride playing.
The Traditionals series cymbals are the result of Paiste's research into recreating the cymbal sounds from the blues, swing, big band, cool jazz, and hard bop era of the 1930's to the 1960's. For more information, visit their web site at www.paiste.com. |
