AKG Introduces C 900 Condenser Microphone

$250.00 AKG C 900 features patented transducer innovations, PB 1000 Presence Boost Adapter, and 24-karat gold transducer case.

October 3, 2001

With the introduction today of the new AKG C 900 performance condenser microphone, AKG Acoustics has empowered a generation of vocal artists and engineers to easily and affordably bring their performance to new heights of intelligibility and fidelity. Featuring a 24 carat gold transducer case for optimum conductivity and a high resistance to corrosion and humidity, AKG predicts the AKG C 900 will become the instrument of choice for artists wishing to "take their performances to the next level."

According to Doug MacCallum, AKG Vice President and General Manager, the AKG C 900 was designed and engineered with a very specific end-user in mind. "A condenser microphone priced more like a dynamic mic, the C 900 is a truly unique microphone that meets the needs of vocal performers with ambition but also with moderate budgets," MacCallum said today. "The C 900 complements the other products in the Emotion II Series and provides the artist with a crisp, clear sound that projects through even the loudest mix, on any stage."

The AKG C 900 features a frequency independent cardioid polar pattern that is optimized for high gain before feedback. The microphone's uniform polar response makes the C 900 an excellent choice for on-stage use with fold-back or in-ear monitors. The C 900 also boasts a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20kHz, which is enhanced by the integrated PB 1000 Presence Boost Adapter that provides a 3dB to 4db peak between 5kHz and 13 kHz and allows for better intelligibility and sound. The C 900 features sensitivity at 1 kHz of 6 mV/Pa, impedance is 200 ohms and can easily handle a maximum SPL is 139 dB at 1% THD. Lightweight and sleekly packaged, the AKG C 900 looks and feels as great as it sounds. The C 900 also features a standard 3-pin male 24-carat gold plated XLR-type connector.

AKG Acoustics plans to implement a substantial marketing campaign to promote this new flagship product in their Emotion Series II product line.
