BOSS announced the long-awaited successor to the best-selling DR-550mkII Dr. Rhythm—the new DR-670 Dr. Rhythm—is now shipping. This compact and affordable drum machine incorporates the waveforms and patterns of the flagship DR-770, while adding features musicians have been asking for: velocity-sensitive pads, a new Bass part, a pad interface designed to emulate a bass guitar fretboard, footswitch control of start/stop and fill-ins, plus Roland’s popular Direct Pattern Play function for triggering patterns "on the fly" from the drum pads.

While the DR-670 features new velocity-sensitive pads and a large LCD with fixed tempo display, most notable is the all-new 12-voice sound engine derived from the flagship DR-770. In total, there are 255 amazing drum and percussion waveforms grouped into 64 Preset and 64 User kits. In addition, the DR-670 features a new Bass part and an intuitive bass guitar-style interface for programming basslines using 16 distinct sounds including Finger Bass, Slap Bass, Acoustic Bass, Pick Bass and more.

The DR-670’s 200 Preset patterns provide a quick and easy way to incorporate realistic drum and percussion into songs and live performance. Carefully programmed to capture the nuances of a real drummer, these outstanding patterns cover a wide range of styles from Rock and Pop to Fusion, Jazz, Latin, Dance, World and more. And with the DR-670’s Direct Pattern Play function, any of these patterns can be instantly selected using the drum pads. Up to 200 User patterns can also be programmed using the onboard sequencer. Preset and User patterns can then be easily chained to create up to 100 Songs.

While the DR-670 is at home with songwriters and studio musicians, it can also be used for live drum and bass accompaniment. And with its Direct Pattern Play and optional footswitch control over start/stop and fill-in’s, the DR-670 is hard to beat as an affordable and programmable accompaniment tool. In fact, this compact drum machine is small enough to be taken just about anywhere and can even run on battery power.

Connections to the DR-670 include 1/4-inch stereo outputs, a stereo Headphone output (stereo mini-jack type), Pedal Switch input, plus MIDI In and Out jacks.
