New MPX200 Dual-Channel Processor from LexiconOffering true stereo, 24-bit dual-channel processing and a built in compressor
May 15, 2001Lexicon, Inc., a Harman International company introduces the MPX 200: a true stereo, 24-bit dual-channel processor with 24-bit
A/D-D/A and S/PDIF digital inputs and outputs (supports 44.1kHz). Powered by Lexicons
proprietary Lexichip, the MPX 200 features a newly designed digital compressor in addition to
its reverb and effects.
The MPX 200 is a 19" rack, 1U high processor that includes 240 presets with classic Lexicon
reverb programs such as Ambience, Plate, Chamber and Inverse as well as Tremolo, Rotary,
Chorus, Flange, Pitch, Detune, 5.5 second Delay and Echo. Additionally, there are 64 User
locations available to store individual variations of these programs. Dual-channel processing
provides two independent effects in a variety of configurations Dual Stereo (Parallel),
Cascade, Mono Split and Dual Mono indicated by the Routing LED in each of the dual
programs.
Up to eight adjustable parameters (four program and four compressor) are available in each
program. The digital compressor is available in all 240 programs, including the dual programs
simultaneously providing two effects and compression. A full range of MIDI control includes
Program Change, MIDI bulk dump, and an easy Learn mode that allows MIDI patching of the
front panel controls. In addition, tempo-controlled delays and modulation rates lock to Tap or
MIDI Clock. Tap tempos are controllable by audio input, the front panel Tap button, dual
footswitch, external MIDI controller or MIDI Program Change.
The MPX 200s front panel features all key function controls including Input level, program Load,
program Edit, Compressor, Store, multi-function Adjust, Bypass and tempo Tap. In addition, easy
to read LED displays indicate Compression gain, Input level (L&R channels), Effects and
Routing, Edit Parameters, program Load, MIDI, Store and tempo Tap.
Other features include 3-stage headroom indicators, 4-stage compressor indicators, inputs
capable of accommodating musical instruments, headphone output, software-selectable MIDI
OUT/THRU port, Cue program mode, pushbutton or footswitch selection of dry or muted audio
output, assignable Bypass mode, Global Mix, Tempo and Compressor modes and a 20Hz-20kHz
+ 1dB frequency response. In addition, the MPX 200 has a built in power supply, eliminating the
need for external power supplies.
"We designed the MPX 200 to provide the marketplace with a powerful, affordable dual-channel
processor that features the legendary Lexicon sound," stated Buzz Goodwin, Lexicons Vice
President of Sales. "Based on its sound and features, the MPX 200 will appeal to a broad range
of users that include project studios, desktop audio/sound designers, performing musicians and
professional recording studios." For more information, visit their web site at www.lexicon.com. |
