Oberheim Announces OB-Tune
Pitch Correcting Plug-inDirectX plug-in utilizes Auto-Tune Technology from
Antares Audio Technologies
March 6, 2001
Oberheim Electronics, a division of Gibson Musical Instruments, announced the release of OB-Tune , a plug-in for DirectX compatible digital audio recording applications that provides the ability to correct the pitch of a voice or solo instrument in real time, without distortion or artifacts, while preserving all of the expressive nuance of the original performance. OB-Tune provides processing that is so transparent that over a typical pitch correction range, it is simply not possible to tell that a sound has been processed, except that it is perfectly in tune.
OB-Tune uses proprietary DSP algorithms to detect the incoming pitch of a voice or solo instrument in real-time and correct it, if necessary, to a desired pitch. OB-Tune comes pre-programmed with standard major, minor and chromatic scales, as well as 26 historical, ethnic and microtonal scales. The ability to specify the scale (or individual notes of a scale) to correct to, as well as the ability to adjust the rate of correction, ensures effective pitch correction for virtually any style of performance.
OB-Tune utilizes core DSP technology licensed from Antares Audio Technologies, developers of the renowned Auto-Tune pitch correction plug-in. Hailed by the audio press as "amazing" and a "holy grail of recording," Auto-Tune has become the world's best-selling audio plug-in. OB-Tune provides the same sound quality and transparent processing wrapped in an easy-to-use, classic Oberheim interface."When Oberheim Electronics set out to develop its first software product, we thought it would be great to be able to offer the power of digital pitch correction in an affordable, easy-to-use, "Oberheim style" plug-in for the PC," said OB-Tune Product Manager, Don Mitchell. "Thanks to a technology licensing agreement with our friends at Antares, the result is OB-Tune. We're really excited to be able to offer such a powerful, professional-level tool at a price that makes it available to virtually every PC-based computer musician."
OB-Tune is designed to work with most popular PC-based audio applications including Cakewalk Pro and Home Studio, Steinberg Cubase and Wavelab, Emagic Logic, Sonic Foundry Acid and Sound Forge, and many others that support the DirectX Plug-In format. OB-Tune can be used in real-time to correct vocal or instrument pitch while recording or later, during editing or mixdown, for meticulously tweaking an already recorded track. It can even be used to create special vocal effects (such as the now infamous "Cher" effect from "Believe").
OB-Tune is available exclusively worldwide on the Internet from MusicYo.com and can be downloaded directly to your PC for an MSRP of $49.99. For more information, visit their web site at www.oberheim.com. |
