Hollywood Edge and NemeSys Announce Libraries Using New QuickSound Technology

The Hollywood Edge (a division of Liberty Livewire Audio) and NemeSys Music Technology, Inc. announced today that
the two companies are releasing new technology and library content to streamline the process of sound effects
scoring. NemeSys is introducing V2.2 of it’s GigaStudio software which incorporates greatly improved QuickSound
database performance. The Hollywood Edge shall release a new version of it’s famed Premiere Edition III and IV and The
Edge Edition libraries, now to be offered in the industry standard Wave (.Wav) format with enhanced QuickSound
technology.
QuickSound couples a powerful database search engine, advanced data networking, and patented disk-based audio
streaming technology. Sound scoring productivity is improved significantly by enabling instantaneous navigation,
auditioning, and live composition with massive sound library collections. With GigaStudio V2.2, NemeSys has improved
it’s QuickSound technology with database management performance that is up to fifty times faster than in previous
releases. By virtue of these new enhancements, GigaStudio literally makes terabytes of sound content instantly accessible
and playable. By instantly mapping the dozens of sound objects matching any search criteria to a MIDI control surface,
automatically coupling these sound objects to an advanced audio streaming and DSP processing engine, and making each
event audible in less than 10 one-thousandths of a second, QuickSound affords unrivaled power to scoring professionals.
The Hollywood Edge has created a new version of it’s Hollywood Edge Premiere Edition III and IV and library, now
incorporating the QuickSound database technology for every conceivable combination of descriptive sound-to-word
associations. Any imaginable sound can now be located by simple or complex search criteria, such as “phone”, “phone
ring”, “phone ring NOT bell”, or “animals”, “animals NOT (bird OR cat)”, and so forth. Not just for locating logical
groups of sound objects, the QuickSound enhanced library also facilitates instantaneous access, auditioning, streaming,
and multichannel playback with automation. The QuickSound enhanced library is also user customizable and may be used
with any application that supports the popular Wave (.WAV) audio format.
With GigaStudio and the new enhanced Hollywood Edge Premiere Edition library, sound objects can be selected and
played together in the most interactive way possible, giving playability and creative potential never offered by any scoring
system at any price. Sound designers will appreciate the creative possibilities afforded by 160 concurrent, streaming
sounds along with the interactivity afforded by an advanced synthesizer engine with dynamic voice allocation, pitch
interpolation, and resonant filtering. Literally any sound or combination of sounds from massive libraries can be located
instantaneously and played together with any other for the ultimate creative experience. Users may also interface the
system to their favorite sequencer and automate the events to timecode.
