Digidesign is now shipping Pro Tools 5.2 with DigiStudio, a new development for worldwide Internet collaboration within Pro Tools. The first project between Digidesign and its strategic partner, Rocket Network, DigiStudio is a virtual workplace for online audio collaboration and production, accessible via the Digidesign Production Network (DigiProNet.com).
DigiStudio liberates producers and talent from the constraints of being in one location to work together and speeds the process of collaborating remotely. DigiStudio builds upon the functionality of Pro Tools software, enabling users to exchange stereo and multi-channel surround tracks as well as mono tracks over the Internet. Contributors upload both audio and midi files and track changes from their local drives to a centralized server. The media is intelligently mirrored to overcome the speed limitations of working on the Internet, and new changes are automatically updated and distributed to other remote studio participants.
Pro Tools professionals will enjoy the richest interchange possible with other DigiStudio-enabled Pro Tools users with transfer of playlists, control settings, automation, plug-in info and more. Other features include file compression for faster transfer, video posting and receiving. The instant messaging chat window allows collaborators to comment on session changes as they happen, and a mix down function allows finished audio to be delivered for review and approval to clients
To use DigiStudio, Pro Tools TDM users need an Internet connection, Pro Tools 5.2 software which is available as a free update for users running Pro Tools 5.1 or 5.1.1 software, and a DigiStudio account accessible via the DigiProNet website at www.digipronet.com.
