Pyro 1.5 Update Now Available from CakewalkMP3 and CD making system adds support for Windows XP, music data burning, more CD-R drives,
other new features. November 8, 2001
Cakewalk, is now
shipping Cakewalk Pyro 1.5, an update to the company's MP3 and CD creation software. Pyro 1.5 is now available as a download
from the Cakewalk web site and on CD to new customers and registered users. Registered users can benefit from a low upgrade
price.
First released in Fall of 2000, Pyro provides an environment for organizing and playing digital music both on and off the
PC.
A powerful new feature in Pyro 1.5 is music data CD burning (for MP3 CDs). Because MP3s are ten times smaller than audio files,
music fans can fit ten times as much music on one CD, allowing them to create MP3 data CDs that will hold hundreds of songs.
This provides for hours of playing time from just one CD when using any of the popular MP3 CD players, like the Rio Volt,
Samsung Yepp, and TDK MOJO among others. Additionally, burning MP3s as data CDs is a great storage-efficient way to archive
your MP3 music collection.
Pyro 1.5 also supports the new Windows XP operating system, in addition to Windows 98/2000/Me. Pyro 1.5 also supports
WMDM-compliant portables such as the NOMAD Jukebox, and employs MMC auto-detection for compatibility with all new CD
burners. The new portable players now supported include: Creative NOMAD Jukebox, Creative NOMAD II, the Rio series, Samsung
Yepp, and Compaq PA-1.
Cakewalk's next-generation music software-- including Cakewalk Pyro, the MP3 and CD creation software, Cakewalk Plasma, the
loop-based music and remix software, and SONAR, Cakewalk's flagship digital multitrack recording system-- recently have been
recognized by Intel Corporation for providing high performance audio playback, recording, and mixing on Pentium IV/Windows
XP-based PCs.
