LinPlug announced the release of their RM III Rhythm Sampler. The RM III is a highly flexible, easy-to-use, third-generation VST instrument created specifically for rhythm
programming. In comparison with its predecessor the RM2, the RM III contains a host of new features intended
to make your music-making more efficient and enjoyable. Special attention has been paid to optimising the RM
III's sample engine and graphics library so that it uses very little CPU and system resources.
The RM III is 24-voice polyphonic (CPU-dependent) and features 18 velocity-sensitive Instrument Pads, each
capable of storing up to 32 samples. Both WAV and AIFF formats (up to 32 bit/96kHz) are supported and can
be loaded directly from the instrument's easy-to-use Sample Display. Samples can be arranged in up to 32
layers, split into 32 velocity zones or combined into highly complex and expressive layer/split arrangements.
Velocity crossfades are supported. In total, up to 576 samples can be loaded and individually triggered.
The volume, pan position and tuning of each Instrument Pad are adjustable with all Instrument Pads having a
tuning range of +/- 2 octaves. Each Instrument Pad has mute and solo switches, as well as direct access to a
variety of user-definable choke options. All Instrument Pad parameters can be controlled with an external
hardware controller.
Hardware controller setup is very simple thanks to LinPlug's unique ECS (Easy Controller Setup) feature.
The RM III's effects section contains four separate, simultaneously usable effects processors: Distortion,
Compressor, Crusher and Vel-Sim, the latter being a unique simulation of velocity multi-sampling using low
pass filtering.
The RM III can import and export complete drum kits in its own format. In addition, it can import drum kits in
RM2, LM-4, and LM-9 formats. The RM III comes with more than 30 ready-to-use drum kits to get you
started.
The RM III has a highly flexible output configuration that can be arranged to suit the capabilities of the host
computer. Its timing is sample-accurate and all automation and postprocessing functions of the host software
are supported.
System Requirements: VST2.0 capable host software, 200 MHz PC.
The RM III is available for online purchase at the LinPlug website. The full license fee is US$59.00. The upgrade fee for registered RM2 users is US$14.00.
