In a continuing effort to offer a line of signature snare drums that echo the musical personalities of their namesakes, Yamaha Drums has developed the Steve Jordan MSD-1365SJ. Targeted to the professional drummer, the 13 x 6 1/2-in. model embodies the sound that has made Jordan a major force in the worlds of recording and live performance. Demonstrating corporate and ecological responsibility, the MSD-1365SJ has been manufactured using environmentally-friendly wood harvesting methods, finishes and adhesives.
"Yamaha has specifically chosen Maple woods from areas that are replanted after harvesting to ensure that the forest is replenished as quickly as possible," states Jerry Andreas, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. "In addition to quality sound, this model also takes into account environmental concerns that are very important to both Steve and Yamaha. The result is a natural appearance and warm sound suited to all playing styles."
Features include an all-Maple 4-ply shell, 6-ply reinforcement hoop and
non-plated, 20-strand snare. The MSD-1365SJ carries a suggested MSRP of $495 and will be available in December.
"The Steve Jordan drum is a great addition to the signature line," notes David Jewell, product manager, Yamaha Drums, "in that it represents both Steve's sound and a noteworthy cause."
A master of styles, Jordan's recording and performance credits include David Sanborn, Keith Richards, Patti Austin, George Benson, BB King, Spiro Gyra, James Taylor, Steely Dan and Neil Young.
