January 9, 2000Soundforests release Voice Fusions ($99.95 - audio) is a double CD set
which goes against the grain of most vocal-oriented sampling collections.
The samples range from enigmatic statements and poetic phrases to
subconscious thoughts and non-verbal rhythms, to ambient wordless worlds.
All samples are derived from human voice.
The Voice Fusions sampling collection evolved from three notions: 1) Voice
Synthesizing - oscillator waveforms derived entirely from the human voice,
2) Language as Music - metaphorical, thought provoking or puzzling phrases
and other clips which are ordinary in an extra-ordinary way, and finally, 3)
Voice Explorations - where the form or suggestive nature of the sample is
the focus, creating new words, new phrases and rhythms.
The 2 CD set consists of over 1200 Megs and 850 samples processed in a
24-bit environment. The samples are grouped in 31 impressionistic categories
and all clips are indexed within their respective tracks. The 20-page
booklet lists their lengths, clip number and position relative to CD start
time for convenient locating if your player does not have track-indexing. A
sortable database will be available through the web site. It will include
sample size and bpm where applicable.
Voice Fusions explores the evocative nature of the human voice & its
synthesis with technology. For more information and to hear audio examples, visit their web site at www.soundforest.com. |
