1029.LSE PowerPak Multi-Channel Monitoring System from Genelec

October 28, 2002

Genelec has introduces a new comprehensive multi-channel monitoring system specifically designed for post-production suites and recording studios with control rooms measuring less than 3000 cubic feet (W x D x H). The 1029.LSE PowerPak system is a tailored solution and simplifies the process of creating a new multi-channel monitoring system or upgrading an existing stereo monitoring environment to 5.1 surround.

The 1029.LSE PowerPak system consists of five Genelec 1029A two-way, bi-amplified active monitors, one Genelec 7060A LSE Series Active Subwoofer, and a Genelec Acousti/Tape frequency/wavelength measuring tape. In addition, a Genelec 1029.LSE PowerPak setup guide is included for accurate speaker placement, wiring and fine-tuning. The suggested retail price for the complete system is $3999.00.

At the heart of the system is Genelec's 7060A LSE Series Active Subwoofer which employs Genelec's proprietary Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) technology. Designed for multi-channel professional surround sound monitoring environments, the LSE 7060A features a single 10" proprietary driver with 120 Watt power amplifier, a frequency response of 29Hz -- 85Hz (120Hz) +/-3dB, and has the ability to deliver SPL's of 108dB @ 1 meter. The 7060A also features extremely low distortion levels. In addition, the 7060A boasts Genelec's new 6.1 bass management system, which has six signal input and output channels (L/C/R Front and L/C/R Rear), as well as a discrete LFE signal input with a selectable 85/120Hz low-pass filter and a summed signal output, providing flexibility and easy connection. The built-in bass management unit splits the six main channel input signals into low and high frequency components, accurately dividing the Input signal between the subwoofer and main speakers. A dedicated LFE In input connector enables easy set-up and accurate monitoring of the LFE channel in 5.1 and 6.1 digital surround sound systems.

The system also includes five Genelec 1029A two-way, bi-amplified active monitors. The 1029A is a compact close-field system featuring a high degree of accuracy and exceptionally wide dynamic range and incorporating Genelec's proprietary Directivity Control Waveguide Technology (DCW). Powered by a pair of precisely crafted 40 Watt amplifiers, the Genelec 1029A monitors offer a wide frequency response of 68Hz to 20kHz (+/-2.5dB) from a 5" woofer and 3/4" hard-domed tweeter. In addition to extremely low harmonic distortion, the 1029A has a front-mounted volume control, and rear panel bass and treble tilt room response controls. The Genelec 1029A active monitors measure a compact 10" X 6" X 7.125" and are housed in a diecast aluminum enclosure, featuring rugged construction while also providing massive heat dissipation capability and excellent shielding against RF interference. Each speaker is also EM shielded for additional protection when used in close proximity to video monitors.
