Schecter Guitar Research has announced the new Diamond Series Tempest Special guitar.
According to the company's President, Michael Ciravolo, the new Tempest Special is much closer to the vibe of the original custom-shop Tempest, released in 1997. Though similar to the current Diamond Series Tempest Custom, the new Special has some major variations.
Featuring an arched Mahogany body, the Special has a 24 3/4" scale, Set-In, 3-Ply Mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard and dot inlays.
The different sonic character of the Special comes courtesy of two newly developed Duncan Design 'stacked' P-90 pickups. Though true humbuckers, these dual pickups emulate the gutsy midrange and 'buzz-saw' qualities of vintage P-90's - without the noise.
Other features include creme body binding, Chrome Tune-o-matic bridge with stop tailpiece and Grover tuning machines.
Now currently shipping in a Vintage Gold Top finish, Schecter plans to expand this model to an additional color in 2003.
MSRP: $749.00 ($799.oo for a Left hand version)
All Schecter instruments are backed by a Limited Lifetime warranty.
