December 12, 2003Back in November of this year, TerraTec Producer and Music and More (MAM) announced a partnership to produce a new line of products. The SINE series is the result of their efforts, kicking off with a bunch of goodies for the studio.
The first range of products born of this joint effort is the SINE PA Series, comprising three stereo amplifiers tailored specifically for use with near-field monitors and a stereo headphones amplifier.
These are followed up by three more studio tools - two Direct In boxes and the chromatic tuner SINE CT 1.
Housed in an ultra compact chassis, each SINE PA Series 19" device takes up just a single rack space, and is thus easily accommodated even in very small racks. Onboard overheat protection ensures pro reliability, while a switch-on delay circuit altogether eliminates popping noise when monitors are powered up. The three SINE PA models (SINE PA 120, SINE PA 200 and SINE PA 460) boast a signal-to-noise ratio of 97 dB (at 30 watts and 1 ohm). A special feature of the PA 460 model is a cascaded circuit allowing its output power to be switch from 4 x 60 watts to 2 x 120 watts.
Complementing this line of SINE stereo amps is the SINE HP 48 Headphones Amplifier. Its front panel inputs can take up to eight sets of headphones. The 19" device sports four S stereo power amps designed to handle the same number of independent input signals, which are patched in via 1/4" jacks on the rear panel. Offering S flexible and practical routing options, the HP 48 accepts up to four different signal sources. Available now in retail stores, the SINE PA Series is priced at 199.00 USD (SINE PA 120), 269.00 USD (SINE PA 200) and 320.00 USD (SINE PA 460) euros. The SINE HP 48 Headphones Amplifier sells for 139.00 USD (MSRP; manufacturer's suggested retail price).
The SINE CT 1 chromatic rack tuner serves as a tuning device for guitarists, bassists and keyboardists who play older analog synthesizers. The device is equipped with identical 6.3 mm (1/4") jacks on the front and back panels that are designed to accept these instruments. The seven-segment display automatically indicates the played note. The tuner's output may be muted while tuning by pressing the Mute button or an optional footswitch. An integrated tone generator (C1-B5 in semitone steps) plays the reference note of the desired instrument on demand. Available now, the SINE CT 1 sells for 189.00 USD (MSRP).
The SINE DI 4, a four-channel active Direct In box, and the eight-channel SINE DI 8 round out the initial SINE pro audio product range. "Direct inject" means that input and output signals are galvanically separated so that unbalanced signals may be sent via the two connected DI boxes directly to the mixing console's balanced microphone input. In addition, the device sports a ground lift switch for each channel, making it easy to eliminate ground loops caused by differences in the potential of two connected devices. The dampening switch (20 dB and 40 dB) offers an excellent level matching facility for input signals. The SINE DI 4 and DI 8 are available now for 119.00 USD (MSRP).
