At the Frankfurt Music Messe and NAB2000 in Las Vegas, Soundscape
demonstrated the recently released Version 3.0 software for R.Ed and
SSHDR1-Plus DAWs. This is a free of charge update and can be downloaded
from the Soundscape web site by any
registered Soundscape user.
Full dynamic mix automation is included, with 128 automation tracks and
multiple parameter layers per track. Recording and editing automation clips
and data is as simple as working with audio tracks and using the snapshots
and comprehensive update modes, it's easy to modify and obtain the perfect
mix. All functions in the mixer can be automated, including surround
panning, EQs, sends, mutes etc. DSP plug-ins from 3rd Parties, like the
Aphex Aural Exciter Type III, TC Reverb and TC Dynamizer provide
automatable parameters that can be recorded and edited.
Also in Version 3.0 are 5.1 mixing channels with 6 and 8 channel wide mixer
strips to support surround plug-ins, plus a Cue Sheet printing utility for
post-production users.
Version 3.0 adds full support for the new Soundscape Console Manager
software, which brings integration with a wide range of external hardware
controllers. These include Mackie HUI, JL Cooper MCS and CS-10, CM
Automation Motormix, Tascam TM-D4000 and Yamaha 02R/03D consoles, plus a
Sony 9 pin slave mode and General or NRPN MIDI controller support.
At NAB2000, a 32 channel JL Cooper MCS Series console with touch sensitive
flying faders, surround panning for every channel, a master surround panner
and full transport and locator control was demonstrated in conjunction with
a R.Ed system. At around US$13,000 list for the console and US$6,250 for a
32 track 24 bit R.Ed this brings professional recording, editing, mixing
and DAW control to a new price level.
