PRESS RELEASE

Korg CA-10 Chromatic and GA-10 Guitar/Bass Tuner

July 11, 1997

Korg announces the introduction of the CA-10 Chromatic Tuner and the GA-10 Guitar and Bass Tuner at this year's NAMM Summer Session. Both compact tuners feature highly precise and easy-to-see needle-style LCD meters, versatile calibration, Auto and Manual tuning modes and up to 80 hours of continuous battery life.

The CA-10's advanced design permits accurate tuning of any instrument, particularly those in lower ranges or instruments with a large number of overtones. Its wide detection range allows tuning from A0 (27.50Hz) to B7 (3,951.07 Hz), plus it quickly determines the note name as well as range for any kind of musical instrument, including strings, wind and keyboards. The GA-10 allows the selection of either Guitar or Bass tuning modes. The Bass mode features a wide detection range which supports six-string bass (Low-B, Hi-C). Both tuners feature a high-sensitivity microphone for tuning acoustic instruments.

The CA-10's Calibration Function allows the user to select a reference pitch in the range of 430 Hz to 449 Hz in 1 Hz steps, yielding the versatility to match tuning to any other instrument or recording. The GA-10 provides the world's first quadra-flat tuning mode, which supports the dropped tunings used in many of today's musical styles. Four stages of flat tuning are supported, from one semitone through two whole tones.

The meter section of both tuners has a liquid-crystal needle, providing both the accuracy of an LCD and the visibility of a conventional needle-style meter. The display screen is large and clear; additional LED's also provide visual confirmation of exact tuning.

Both the CA-10 and GA-10 offer Auto and Manual tuning modes and will automatically detect an input note, so the user won't have to alter any tuner settings to make speedy adjustments while performing or practicing. If preferred, the user may select a desired pitch to tune to in the Manual Mode.

A low-power consumption design allows for approximately 30 hours of continuous use with a single 9-volt battery (80 hours with 9-volt alkaline). An Auto Power Off function turns off the power if either tuner is left on for more than 20 minutes without being used.
