Cubase VST Now Available for Windows

July 11, 1997

Steinberg North America announces the release of Cubase version 3.5 with Virtual Studio Technology (VST) for the Windows 95 platform. Cubase VST provides up to 32 tracks of digital audio, 128 Equalizers in real time, a fully equipped effects rack with four multi-effects processors, a master section and an open PlugIn interface for additional real time effects and mastering tools.

Cubase VST for Windows supports Active Movie compatible PlugIns. This allows the use of the complete Waves Native Power Pack and the full range of Spectral Design PlugIns in real time from within Cubase VST. For the first time on the PC it is possible to finish an entire production from the first idea to the final CD-Master.

Cubase VST features recording of digital audio, professional MIDI sequencing and fully automated mixdown with comprehensive mastering possibilities. The result can be saved in the standard file formats WAV and AIFF in different resolutions. It doesn't matter if you need a 24-bit pro quality master or an 8-bit, 22.05 kHz sound for multimedia soundtracks. Cubase VST has the right answer in every situation.

Cubase VST features a complete Bus system for the use of multi I/O audio hardware like Digidesign's AudioMedia III, Lexicon Studio, Event Electronics' Layla and Darla cards and Terratecs EWS 64. Any channel of the VST Mixer can be routed to any output of the audio card. Even the effects sends or the outputs of the new 8 subgroups can talk to any output you like.

System requirements:
A PC running an Intel Pentium processor at least 100 MHz and 16 MB of RAM, a fast E-IDE or SCSI hard disk and a Windows 95 compatible soundcard becomes a fully equipped digital music production facility.

The upgrade from Cubase 3.0 to Cubase VST 3.5 is free for all who purchased their program after the 15th of January, 1997.
