New Galim Signal Processing HardwareRackmount Hardware Partners With Waves DSP Software July 11, 1997
The newly formed Galim® Ltd. Signal Processing of Tel Aviv, Israel and Waves Ltd., the leading supplier of DSP software for the professional audio and multimedia markets, today announced the development of open hardware accelerated processing systems for professional audio signal processing. The Galim Signal Processing Systems offer a dedicated 4U 19" rackmount, multi-effects, realtime audio processing system for broadcasters and audio engineers with the modular flexibility and control offered by computer based DSP software.
"Our mission is to provide hardware platforms with high processing power and the support for truly open software integration at an affordable cost." comments Aharon Bahar, General
Manager of Galim, Ltd. "Galim provides a new level of performance from audio converters and digital signal processors, as well as connecting multiple DSPs more efficiently than present-day solutions. We are collaborating with a group of extremely talented individuals located in Tel-Aviv and Haifa, Israel's Silicon Valley, and the results are unprecedented high resolution audio signal processing ASICs."
WaveShell - Realtime OS Galim has licensed the WaveShell-OS(TM) technology from Waves. This technology is a realtime operating system capable of managing multiple DSPs and native host processes, while interfacing and offering services to other applications running on the host processor such as sound editor and sequencing applications.
Galim Sound Signal Processors (SSP(TM)) Galim offers two units: one with fully embedded dual Pentium® Pro (the SSP 70-A) microprocessors running a Microsoft NT 4.0 server, and the second with a single PowerPC(TM) (the SSP 70-B) running the Macintosh OS. Both units are equipped with DSP coprocessors for realtime processing acceleration and professional realtime audio processing interface options. Powered by the WaveShell-OS each unit can chain together the complete Waves DSP software line including the Q10(TM) Paragraphic Equalizer, L1(TM) Ultramaximizer, S1(TM)-Stereo Imager, C1(TM) Compressor/Gate, TrueVerb(TM) room emulator/reverb, and PAZ(TM)PsychoAcoustic Analyzer for either realtime or file based processing.
Modularity
Each Galim SSP 70-A/B system can be configured many Motorola DSP processors, two independent TDM buses for accelerated DSP communications and adjustable multi-rate operation. Optional 1/0 support includes more than 16 channels of AES/EBU, S/PDIF or ADAT signal interface. For more information, visit their web site at www.waves.com. |
