Yamaha Introduces New Line of Foot Pedals for Drummers

Yamaha is proud to introduce a new line of foot pedals that will change the way you think about drumming. The new pedals have been completely re-engineered and present features to maximize feel and power. The new patented design of the frame uses a horizontal crossbar just under the hex rod, upon which the beater cam turns. This crossbar stabilizes the frame so that even under the heaviest playing conditions, there is no friction or binding in the hex rod bearings. The result is a feel so smooth that your speed and dynamic control will improve dramatically.
The specifications of the professional models, FP-840 single pedal and DFP-870 double pedal, include a double-wide chain, independent angle adjustments for the beater and the foot board, a one-touch spring tension adjustment, ball bearing spring roller and bass drum hoop swivel clamp. The independent angle adjustments allow you to customize the pedal to your exact playing style, while the one-touch spring tension adjustment makes set-up or changes easier than ever. To reduce friction and wear and to improve speed, the ball bearing spring roller moves exactly with the main hex rod. To eliminate stress on the bass drum hoop or pedal frame, the hoop clamp at the pedal base incorporates a plate that swivels. The DFP-870 is also available in a lefty version and as a slave-only for those who may want to add double foot pedal capability to an FP-840.
The beater has been re-engineered to facilitate all playing styles and abilities. To maximize feel and speed, a titanium beater rod is used. Titanium is a very strong, lightweight metal and players of all levels will notice a different feel when using this unique beater shaft. An interchangeable beater head system allows even more control of your sound. A standard felt head can be replaced with a wood, rubber or plastic beater head. You can adjust the angle of the beater head itself to ensure full impact on the drum head regardless of bass drum angle or head used.
The base plate and foot board are newly designed as well. To accommodate uneven stage surfaces and maintain foot board stability, the new base plate angles off the ground surface and extends past the heel of the foot board. The foot board surface incorporates raised, smooth grooves for quick heel-up play and uses a longer surface area for heel-down play.
A unique addition to these pedals is a small attachment to the chain known as the "accelerator." This part allows you to easily change the center point of the cam roller which changes the feel of the forward and backward beater motion. The result is unprecedented control over pedal throw and musical nuances.
The 700 and 600-series foot pedals include many of the same features as the professional models in a lightweight, affordable design. The FP-740 and DFP-770S include a base plate, independent adjustment possibilities, professional beater head system with a steel beater shaft and a single chain design.
