| Yamaha Introduces MSP5 Bi-Amplified Near-Field Monitors
July 10, 1998Drawing on years of experience in designing industry-standard studio speakers, Yamaha announces the newest addition to their line of professional near-field monitors, the MSP5. These monitors feature a bi-amplified design which provides 40 watts of power to each speaker's 5-inch woofer while separate amplifiers feed 27 watts to each of the system's 1-inch titanium tweeters. The resulting sound features an impressively flat frequency response and a well-articulated stereo image. This make the MSP5s perfect for professional recording and other tasks where the accuracy of the monitoring system is of primary concern. The MSP5s have an estimated street price of under $600.
Designed for use in today's digital studios, each MSP5 features magnetic shielding to prevent interference with computer monitors and other sensitive pieces of equipment. To add to their flexibility, Yamaha has placed both +4dB XLR connectors and -10dB line level phono jacks on each speaker for signal input. This allows these monitors to be easily and optimally installed in a wide range of recording environments.
