Zildjian Introduces New Manu Katche Artist Series Model Drumstick
July 10, 1998Norwell, MA... Legendary Cymbal and Drumstick Manufacturer the Avedis Zildjian Company has added Manu Katche, the influential French drummer behind Peter Gabriel's landmark recordings of the past decade, to its international roster of drumstick endorsers. The Company has also announced the introduction of a special Manu Katche signature model drumstick to its Artist Series line of premium drumsticks.
Katche's innovative playing has made him one of the most popular drummers in the world. The Paris native is constantly in demand for clinics, appearances and session work with esteemed artists like Robbie Robertson, Joni Mitchell and Sting. His new Artist Series drumstick is constructed from U.S. Select Hickory at Zildjian's ISO 9001 quality certified drumstick factory. It is 15 and 15/16 inches long and 0.550 inches in diameter. The round bead produces full tones on drums and cymbals, while the tapered butt end is excellent for snare drum articulation. The stick also features Manu's signature in two-tone blue.
"We are extremely proud that Manu chose us to produce his drumstick. The fact that he chose Zildjian is another demonstration of the Zildjian Drumstick brand's rapidly growing stature in the marketplace," said John Sorenson, Zildjian Drumstick Product Manager.
Manu joins an extensive list of drumming legends in all musical styles that are playing Zildjian Drumsticks, from Dennis Chambers (Jazz) to Vinnie Colaiuta (Pop), Sonny Emory (Funk / R&B) to Tim Alexander (Rock). See the Zildjian website at http://www.zildjian.com.
