Korg Announces PCM Expansion Boards for
TRITON
February 5, 2000
Korg has released two new PCM expansion boards for
their award-winning TRITON series keyboards. Each board provides 16 MB
of new sampled waveforms and 128 new Programs and Combinations.
"Future Loop Construction" (EXB-PCM03) contains 16 MB of ReCycled!
drum loops, all programmed and set up into songs in the TRITON's sequencer. These
phrases have been cut up into smaller segments so they can be played at different
tempos without affecting pitch, and visa versa. The Songs have been set up with
different phrases assigned to be triggered directly from the TRITON's keyboard,
by using its unique RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play and Record) feature. A total of
nineteen different songs have been assembled from the 275 loops provided. Styles
range from Hip/Hop, Rap and Big Beat to Funk, R&B, Jazz and percussion loops.
Having a vast array of loops available in ROM is a huge benefit to the music producer,
and when combined with the effects in the TRITON, there are a lot of dynamic variations
that can be added to the performance of a drum part using this material.
"Dance Extreme" (EXB-PCM04) provides 128 Programs and 128 Combinations
using a new palette of dance-oriented waveforms, one-shot samples and hits. This
collection enhances the creative programming possibilities of the TRITON, and
makes use of the two polyphonic arpeggiators to create complete rhythms beds.
Dynamic effects and controllers like the 4 knobs, ribbon and switches, have all
been utilized to give the most expressive control over these sounds possible.
Like all TRITON options these boards are user-installable and are available
immediately.
