Roland Releases L-CDX Sample Libraries
for the XV-5080
February 4, 2000
Roland announces the release of a new sample library designed
for use with the XV-5080 128-Voice Synthesizer Module. The L-CDX-Series Sample
Library takes full advantage of the XV-5080s sample-playback capabilities,
giving users a wealth of high-quality sounds taken from the Roland sample archives.
All sounds from this library are based on the popular L-CDP-Series sounds for
S-Series samplers, and are offered as a four volume collection.
The first set, L-CDX-01 Rhythm Section Instruments, is compiled from the L-CDP-01/02
discs and includes drums, guitar and bass sounds. The L-CDX-02 Keyboard Instruments
is a compilation from L-CDP-09/10 and offers an assortment of vintage keyboard
sounds from the 60s and 70s. The third set, L-CDX-03 Brass & Winds,
takes its sounds from the L-CDP-04/06/07/12 discs and offers a 2-CD collection
of orchestral winds, brass and saxophones. The L-CDX-04 Strings & Orchestral
Percussion is a 2-CD set compiled from the L-CDP-03/05/08/13 discs and includes
the orchestral percussion, strings and symphony samples for which Roland is renowned.
Because the samples are in Roland S-700-Series format, they cannot be loaded
directly into an XV-5080, but are convert loaded so that all waveform/Patch/Performance
parameters can be translated into XV-5080 format. Once loaded, the sounds can
be used as if they were native to the XV-5080 itself. Patch and Performance data
is stored to the XV-5080s User memory. This same information, plus raw waveform
data, can also be stored to optional SmartMedia cards or external SCSI storage
device.
