Marshall Valvestate VS65R Combo

January 18, 1996

Marshall Amplification introduces a new 65 Watt dual channel 1 x 12 combo to its popular Valvestate line. This highly versatile amp is not only compact for home practice but also boasts pro-level features and has more than enough projection and power for stage or studio use.

Marshall's revolutionary Valvestate technology accurately emulates the warmth, tone and performance of an all-tube amp. Constant research and development coupled with reaction to market feedback has led to the VS65R's improved circuitry and features. The VS65R contains a 12AX7 preamp tube, which operates within both the Clean and Overdrive channels. It also features natural sounding spring Reverb, a parallel Effects loop (with a front-panel Mix control), a Line Out jack, a custom designed 12" Marshall "Gold Back" speaker and headphone jack, which mutes the internal speaker, making the amp perfect for private practice.

As well as having independent tone controls for Bass, Middle and Treble, the Clean channel has a Tone Shift switch which re-configures the channel's voicing, giving it a tighter low end. In addition to having a shimmering, glassy clean tone, when driven hard, the Clean channel gets crunchy, making it perfect for semi-distorted chords and bluesy leads.

The Overdrive channel has independent controls for Gain, Bass, Contour, Treble and Volume. The Contour control shifts the mid-range frequencies and provides a wide spectrum of tonal options. The Gain control allows you to dial in the amount of distortion required, from vintage style blues to contemporary rock and metal. The VS65R's two channels are switchable via the frontpanel or an optional footswitch. A footswitch with a LED to show status is also available. The suggested retail price of the VS65R is $599.00 and will be on display at the 1996 Winter NAMM show.
